What can a classroom trash bag tell you? A LOT!
Highland middle schoolers stepped into archaeologists' shoes, analyzing real classroom trash collected by teachers. By examining clues like assignment printouts, art scraps, and subject-specific notes, students categorized artifacts and used evidence to determine which classroom each “excavation site” came from.
To wrap up their investigation, students used Claim-Evidence-Reasoning (CER) to support their conclusions, and connecting their findings to Wisconsin Social Studies inquiry standards.

With 25 bendy straws, 3 feet of masking tape, and four presidential faces, students worked together to build the tallest or widest Mount Rushmore with the presidents in the correct order!
