During the federal government shutdown, the Highland School District will continue to provide reimbursable meals to students through the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program. Students who qualify for free or reduced-price meals will continue to receive those benefits without interruption. We will also continue to review and approve meal benefit applications as usual (see below). If your family has been furloughed or experienced a change in income due to the shutdown, we encourage you to apply for meal benefits as soon as possible using your current household income.
Our commitment to feeding students remains unchanged: all students will continue to have access to healthy meals at school each day. To further support our families, we are providing a resource list at the end of this message including local food pantries, meal programs and other community support.
